Author Joyce Hoffman - Tales of a Stroke Patient

I am more motivated to get even better, as a result of Second Chance Stroke Survivors FaceBook Group and Website. Giving up is easy. The hard part is to keep going, and going, and going.... Second Chance Stroke Survivors, the does that for me

Michael Allwood - SCSS Member (Austrailia)

Not much over here (Australia), have got a lot of help communicating on this FaceBook Group and Website, Second Chance Stroke Survivors, and think it is good for anyone recovering from Stroke.

Rick Ernest-SCSS Member - (U.S.A.)

"I cried because I had no shoes, then I me a man who had no feet". This is a saying I had heard as a kid, but never really hit home. When I got home from the hospital, I looked for support in many different places. Hospitals, churches etc., but found none to speak of. I was not very facebook literate but had time on my hands so I started exploring. I found SCSS and found out how extremely fortunate I am. I love the inspirational stories shared here. When ever I find myself down, I read the stories and find myself feeling better. I hope one day to return to work. Even more, I hope to one day be able to help provide support to other survivors. SCSS allows me to feel part of a family. Not a family we would have chosen, but an amazing and loving family. Stroke has affected each of us differently. I am inspired by the strength and love of SCSS. I will never cry because I have no shoes, as I now know there are others who have no feet.

Kris Pilarski - Spouse Caregiver

My husband suffered a brainstem stroke at 51 years old. It happened while he was on vacation in Sturgis, SD and he was riding his motorcycle at the time. Looking back on it now, I was so unprepared for what was coming... the hospitals, etc. gave me some information but it didn't begin to scratch the surface. I finally decided to seek support online, through Facebook and the first group I found was the Second Chance Stroke Survivors page and it was a BLESSING. I have never known anyone who had suffered a stroke, let alone a head injury and really did not know where to turn for help. This group has given me so much help, inspiration, information, guidance and support that I truly don't know what state of mind I would be in without it. (Thank you to Aaron for creating this group and it's new chapters and for his tireless work in keeping things going and making it better for all of us). Kris Pilarski, New Jersey
